John Adams, Sr. was the father of Mary Adams

In the name of God Amen, I John Adams, Sr. of the County of Halifax and State of Va. Calling to mind the mortality of my body, do make and ordain this my last will and testament. In manner and form following, to wit:

Item 1st. Having heretofore given to my two daughers vix. Polly Overton and Ann Francis also my son Moza Adams, that part of my estate which I proposed giving them, I now only mention their names and give each of them $1.00 to them and their heirs forever.

Item 2nd. I give and bequeath to Jane Hart, formerly widow of my son Joshua Adams deceased $1.00 to her and her heirs forever.

Item 3rd. I give unto my son James Adams one moiety of the land whereon I now live, that is to say the east end up, to new line chppped by myself.

Item 4th. I give unto my son John Adams the other moiety of same tract of land, that is to say the west end down, to said new line chopped as before said, and the aforesaid line thus divided between my aforesaid sons James and John, I give and bequeath to them and to their heirs forever.

Item 5th. My will is that my two sons James and John shall pay all my just debts.

Item 6th. Then all the residue of my estate both real and transitional I give and bequeath to two sons James and John to be equally divided between them and their heirs forever.

7thly. I consitute and appoint my two sons James and John my sole executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all wills by me heretofore made declaring this and this only to be my last will and testament.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 4th. day of November, 1820.
