Marie Claire Boudreau was born March 10, 1817 in L'Acadie, St. Jean, PQ, Canada. She married Edouard Joseph Alexandre on November 15, 1836 in the same town. They moved to America in the 1850's with two children. Their first stop was at Bourbonnais, Illinois, known as "Le Petit Canada" (Little Canada). They then moved to Altorf, where Edouard's father died. They finally settled in Otto Township, section 33 where they bought 120 acres in 1867 from Stephen Ames for $1500.00.

Marie Claire was the mother of thirteen children. She died in 1908 in Irwin, Illinois.
