- Text of the Magna Carta, which in 1215 established that no man, not even the King, was above the law. A good reminder in these troubled times.
- A reference to "les Fille du Roi", that is "the King's Daughters", who were recruited between about 1663 to 1673 to emigrate to what is today Canada and wed soldiers there, in order to help populate the region with French speakers, as part of the so-called "Cradle Wars" with England. This took place at the time that some of our French ancestors migrated to North America; it is easy to imagine they were involved. (Note the Morin reference; might be a link...)
